Cookie Joe
Cookie Joe, a native Houstonian, is one of Houston’s leading choreographers and professional performers. Cookie’s dance training began at the age of two, and she received her first principal role at age nine. She has studied with dance legends such as Patsy Swayze, and Camille Hill, as well as with the Houston Ballet.

Cookie founded Dancin’ School in 1976 and it quickly became one of the largest and most respected dance academies in the greater Houston area.

In 2006 she was nationally recognized by Dance Teacher Magazine as Dance Teacher of the Year.

Besides inspiring young performers, Cookie has trained Olympic Gymnastic hopefuls in Classical Ballet. Cookie is also a renowned bodybuilding choreographer.

Her community work includes teaching dance to area special needs students and to the homeless children of Houston’s Star of Hope. In 2013, that homeless organization awarded her the George and Barbara Bush “Points of Light” Award for her exemplary volunteer service. Recently Cookie has been nominated for the Houston Texans Community Quarterback title.
